BOTOX® & Facial Fillers

Our Aesthetic Services

Drs. Wyse and Pearlman administer BOTOX® Cosmetic and Facial Fillers in the office. Both doctors particularly enjoy this aspect of the practice. They will take the time to talk to you about your areas of concern and how best to provide a more youthful yet very natural appearance. As ophthalmologists, they feel that their knowledge of facial anatomy and extensive surgical experience are major assets in performing these treatments.

Botox Cosmetic | Wyse Eyecare | Northbrook
The use of BOTOX® for cosmetic purposes was discovered by chance by an ophthalmologist who was treating eyelid spasms. She noticed the softening of lines and wrinkles in the treated areas. BOTOX® is now widely used for facial rejuvenation. Lines in the forehead area, around the eyes, “bunny lines” at the side of the nose, frown lines between the brows, the chin crease, and fine lines along the upper and lower lip border are some of the areas that can be treated in our office. Over time even deeper lines tend to fade. Effects start after just a few days and last 3 to 4 months. Administration of Botox® takes just a few minutes, with minimal discomfort (a slight sting). There is no downtime.

Facial Fillers

Juvederm Ultra XC | Wyse Eyecare | Northbrook
Juvederm Ultra Plus XC | Wyse Eyecare | Northbrook
Juvederm Voluma XC | Wyse Eyecare | Northbrook

We use a variety of facial fillers including Juvéderm® Ultra XC, Juvéderm® Ultra Plus XC, Juvéderm Voluma® XC, Juvéderm Volbella® XC, and Juvederm Vollure XC.These products consist of hyaluronic acid which is a naturally occurring substance in the skin. Hyaluronic acid delivers nutrients, helps the skin retain moisture and softness, and adds volume. With age, the facial tissues experience volume loss. Restoring this volume with fillers helps restore a youthful appearance. Because the fillers contain a local anesthetic, and we use additional topical or local anesthetic, there is minimal discomfort with filler injections. There may occasionally be mild, temporary bruising that can be covered with concealer, but otherwise, there is no downtime. Depending upon the type of filler used, results can last 6 months to up to 2 years.

kybella

How Kybella Works

The active ingredient in KYBELLA® is synthetic deoxycholic acid. Deoxycholic acid is a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When injected into the fat beneath the chin, KYBELLA® destroys fat cells, resulting in a noticeable reduction in fullness under the chin. Once destroyed, these cells can no longer store or accumulate fat, so further treatment is not expected once you reach your desired aesthetic goal.

What to expect with Kybella

Before starting treatment, your healthcare specialist will examine the area under and around your chin to determine if KYBELLA® is right for you. Then, your specialist will tailor your treatment to the amount of fat under the chin and your aesthetic goals.

How is Kybella Administered?

Treatment can only be administered by a KYBELLA®-trained healthcare specialist. At each treatment, you will receive multiple small injections under your chin, and the injection process takes about 15 to 20 minutes. The exact number of injections will depend on the amount of fat you have under your chin and your desired profile.

How long will Kybella results last?

When injected into fat under the chin, KYBELLA® causes the destruction of fat cells. Once destroyed, those cells cannot store or accumulate fat. After reaching your desired aesthetic, further treatment is not expected.

Is Kybella right for me?

Only you and your doctor can decide if KYBELLA® is right for you. If you’re bothered by fullness under your chin and wish to avoid surgery, ask your doctor about KYBELLA®.

It is not known if KYBELLA® is safe and effective for the treatment of fat outside of the submental area or in children under 18 years of age.
